Re: different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
@Victor, you are welcome. Actually, I thank you and Icecube for the answers, the help and for UBCD. Since I still don't know if this "boot.images" folder is a common name for the cd "boot sector", or is a particular name used only by IZArc (I'd really like to know), I searched fo...

Re: different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
@Icecube, Some minutes ago I wrote in this topic a very detailed report of new tests while being logged in, and suddenly I see the topic again, as if I didn't write anything. So, If you need more specifics, I'll write the report again. In the meantime, the final conclusion after testing the extracti...

Re: different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
7-zip is the recommended tool... It may be so, but not always a user wants to install a new app if he is already working with an equivalent one. The same happens with the tools included in UBCD: there are many apps that can do almost the same. IMO, it is better for the user to choose by himself. .....

Re: different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
According to my test, and according to: The {BOOT} directiory gets deleted by the ubcd2iso script. which came from the changelog, then: ...The only "problem" you get when you don't delete this directories, is that your newly created iso will contain those folders (they will actually exist ...

Re: different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
Icecube, thank you for your answer. I tested it. Here is how: 1._ I expanded the original downloaded iso (UBCD 5.03) using 7-zip. 1.a._ The "[BOOT]" folder is present under the target directory (where I expanded the UBCD iso). 2._ I customized the contents of the expanded UBCD. 2.a._ I did...

...links to: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=6 which is part of the 4.xx categories. I have updated the link to point to the UBCD V5 tutorial forum. Instead, I would list known "current" apps (better if freeware and portable/standalone) that are known to burn iso imag...

Re: Black screen on laptop...
Yes, i have tried all of that and for some reason it just doesn't do anything I'm sorry, but I fail to understand what exactly is that you already tried. In theory, for a while you were able to get a compatible version of Vista DVD from Internet (even from Microsoft's site). This was not such a pro...

Re: different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
Thank you for your answer. I opened the original UBCD I downloaded, using Isobuster. I don't see any "[BOOT]" nor "boot.images" folders, but I see a "Bootable Disc" section on the left panel (part of the "tree" of file systems), and this "Bootable Disc&qu...

different ubcd iso content according to the extraction tool
When extracting UBCD iso with 7-zip, I see a folder with the name: [BOOT] (including the brackets) and inside it, a file with the name: Bootable_NoEmulation.img . Now, extracting with other tools ( IZArc for example ), the folder has the name: boot.images (no brackets here) and inside it, the file i...

Re: miray HDClone and seagate seatools updates
Can you give some examples of the V4.x content? I know some of the screenshots in the tutorials are outdated, but the concept/steps are still applicable. I will try to give some examples. Please, keep in mind that the following paragraphs are only my personal opinions. If I write something, that do...

Re: miray HDClone and seagate seatools updates
Victor, thank you for your response. Maybe you should add to the list several links and info that should be updated at the UBCD site? For example, the "Customize", "Tutorials" and "FAQ" pages links to UBCD 4.xx probably could be updated, or at least new links to their &...

Re: Add MemScope: Memory tester
Several facts: -At its page in Micro2000 website, the "download" is free, but that doesn't mean the software itself is free, or if you could add/distribute it to/with any other software. -The title of the link says it is free: http://www.micro2000uk.co.uk/products/microscope/MemScope_Free_...

Re: Add MemScope: Memory tester
I am not saying the program is worth of being included in ubcd, and I am not saying the contrary either. I have no idea of legal issues about adding memscope 1.10 to UBCD. Maybe its license states that you should contact the author for permission to add it to UBCD? I don't know. Is it legal to downl...

Re: need help with virtual floppy
StopSpazzing, the problem extracting the archive was already resolved. Since I posted also in the ImDisk boot-land forum, as Icecube suggested, I didn't come back here to report. I should have. I apologize for that. Under Windows Vista, 7-zip opened the first zip archive, and ID the archive (probabl...

Re: Black screen on laptop...
I may be way far from the issue with the following suggestion, so please forgive me if this gets to be a total waste of your time. Since you can get into the BIOS, check for the boot sort or boot order or something similar. First, check that you are working with the power cable plugged in, as oppose...

Re: miray HDClone and seagate seatools updates
I'm sure its on a check list of things to update before releasing UBCD updates. Your enthusiasm is appreciated tho. :) Well, I was almost sure there was no check list, but I thought a forum moderator knew better than I do, so I kept my mouth shut. Since I posted the last "update" post, I ...

Re: Anti-virus updating
Yes, none of those issues have any impact on what I'm doing. I followed the web instructions to update the AV databases and then tried to create a custom iso. ClamAV, I have no clue. At the "known problems", there are updates to ubcd2iso, which is one way to redo the iso after building a ...

Re: Made things even worst????
Since you have a Dell computer, I would first check with their support. You said you have no installation disk, but maybe it is still there in your hard drive in a hidden partition. They should know how to guide you for your specific model and configuration, which you haven't comment here anything a...

Re: need help with virtual floppy
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/jotd/software/bin/bitmap_bros_pc_unpack.zip is "not working" in Vista. I managed to download the zip file, and windows states it is invalid. I tried 7-zip, and it extracts a file named "bitmap_bros_pc_unpack" but it has no extension AND 7-zip has no &...
